Loop Detector

Reliable vehicle detection using in-ground induction loops

A loop detector uses an electromagnetic field to detect metal vehicles passing over an in-ground coil. It’s a proven solution for opening and securing boom barriers or gates, and can be installed on either side of the access point. Bam Bormet offers two detector types — FEIG and Bircher — both built for high reliability, fast response and easy installation.

  • Detects all metal vehicles (cars, trucks, bikes, forklifts)
  • FEIG: 38 × 76 × 71 mm | Bircher: 36 × 74 × 88 mm
  • Max. 20 m cable length between loop and detector (FEIG)
  • Up to 50 km/h vehicle speed detection (Bircher)
  • Automatic calibration and galvanic separation (both models)

Proven technology with modern configuration options

Bam Bormet loop detectors are available in two reliable variants — each suited for different technical preferences. Both models detect all types of metal vehicles and are designed for mounting on a DIN-rail inside the control cabinet. The FEIG loop detector is compact and offers configuration via USB and dedicated software, ideal for remote diagnostics and fast calibration. The Bircher ProLoop 2 stands out for its user-friendly interface with a built-in LCD screen, making on-site programming and status feedback intuitive and efficient.

Both options support single or dual loop connections, feature galvanic separation for signal stability, and automatically recalibrate on startup. Whether you prefer the hands-on usability of Bircher or the digital flexibility of FEIG, each detector ensures accurate, real-time vehicle detection — even in demanding access environments.
